Call of Duty: Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 Are Coming to PlayStation Consoles

Tue, Jun 23, 2026(4h ago)Business

Good news for nostalgic gamers: Treyarch has announced that the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and Black Ops 2 are officially making their way to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this July. Fans can expect the full package, as both titles will feature their iconic Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes. The project is being managed by Iron Galaxy, a studio with extensive experience in game ports, ensuring these classics run smoothly on current-gen hardware.

However, players should temper their expectations regarding visual fidelity. Activision has clarified that these are direct ports rather than full-scale remasters, meaning there will be no major graphical overhauls or PS5-specific technical enhancements like 120Hz support. A lingering question remains regarding the online infrastructure; it is still unclear if the games will utilize original servers or receive modern updates to combat the hacking and cheating issues common in legacy titles. Further details regarding pricing and bundle options are expected to be shared closer to the July release date.
