Dubai Introduces Flexi Rent to Ease Tenant Financial Burdens

Tue, Jun 23, 2026(4h ago)Business

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) has officially rolled out "Flexi Rent," a forward-thinking initiative designed to grant residents greater financial freedom when managing their housing costs. By enabling tenants to opt for monthly, quarterly, or annual payment schedules through participating developers, the program significantly reduces the immediate burden of hefty upfront payments. According to Khalid Al Shaibani, Director of the Rental Affairs Department at the DLD, this move is part of a broader commitment to improving resident wellbeing and ensuring long-term stability within the emirate’s property market.

Currently, the initiative is being piloted with 12 major developers, with plans to expand the network in the near future. The flexibility extends beyond just payment frequency; tenants may benefit from grace periods or tailored restructuring of their plans depending on their individual agreements with landlords. Payments can be easily managed via credit cards, debit cards, or traditional cheques, and the DLD has even committed to waiving certain fees for those transitioning from previous arrangements. This launch marks just the beginning of a series of affordable housing solutions aimed at fostering a more resilient and tenant-friendly real estate sector in Dubai.
