Abu Dhabi’s Cryptographic AI Tech Goes Global Following US Acquisition
A cutting-edge cryptographic AI technology, pioneered by Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute (TII), is set for widespread international implementation following its acquisition by the San Francisco-based firm OPAQUE. Previously, large institutions were often unable to leverage their most sensitive assets—such as classified intelligence, patient health records, and private financial data—in AI systems due to stringent security and regulatory risks. By utilizing TII’s advanced cryptographic methods, organizations can now train and run AI models on this protected information without ever compromising confidentiality, effectively moving these capabilities from experimental laboratory settings into real-world production environments.
The deal marks a significant milestone as the first instance of UAE-developed cryptographic AI being scaled globally by a major US-based tech company. OPAQUE, which counts industry giants like Anthropic and ServiceNow among its clients, intends to integrate these tools across the entire AI lifecycle. Furthermore, the technology is future-proofed with post-quantum security measures, addressing the growing "harvest now, decrypt later" threat where sensitive data intercepted today could be compromised by future quantum computing advancements. This successful transfer of intellectual property underscores the UAE's rising influence in the global AI infrastructure landscape, proving that local foundational research can have a profound impact on how secure AI is deployed on an international scale.
