Ground Collision at Manila Airport Leaves Philippine Airlines Jet Damaged
A ground collision occurred at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) late Tuesday night when a Saudia Airlines Boeing 787 struck a stationary Philippine Airlines (PAL) Airbus A320. The incident took place around 11:30 p.m. as the Saudia flight, bound for Jeddah, was taxiing toward the runway. Images circulating online reveal that the wing of the Saudia jet clipped the vertical stabilizer of the parked PAL aircraft, causing visible structural damage.
Fortunately, officials confirmed that no passengers or crew were aboard the Philippine Airlines jet at the time, and no injuries were reported among those on the Saudia flight. Following the mishap, the damaged PAL aircraft has been pulled from active service to undergo a full technical inspection. Both the airline and local aviation authorities have launched a formal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, leading to the cancellation of the impacted Saudia flight and its follow-up service scheduled for Thursday.
