Oman’s Renewable Energy Shift: A New Hybrid Power Initiative
Oman has taken a significant leap toward a sustainable future by awarding a massive 2.7-gigawatt hybrid renewable energy project to O-Green. This ambitious venture, managed in collaboration with Nama Power and Water Procurement, will integrate solar and wind energy with advanced battery storage systems in Mahout and Duqm. By combining these technologies, the country aims to solve the problem of intermittent supply, effectively transitioning from traditional, standalone renewable projects to a robust, integrated system capable of delivering reliable power around the clock.
This project is a cornerstone of Oman Vision 2040, designed to provide a steady 770 megawatts of firm capacity to the national grid. By ensuring a stable and constant flow of clean energy, the development is set to support energy-intensive industries, including green fuels and data centers. As O-Green continues to build out its impressive 11-gigawatt portfolio, this milestone underscores Oman’s commitment to evolving its energy infrastructure, boosting grid resilience, and establishing itself as a global leader in dispatchable, sustainable power generation.
