Dubai Aerospace Enterprise Finalizes $9 Billion Acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance

Wed, Jul 29, 2026(2h ago)Business

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) has officially solidified its status as a global aviation powerhouse by completing the $9 billion acquisition of Macquarie AirFinance. This strategic move brings the firm’s total portfolio to approximately 1,000 owned, managed, and committed aircraft, cementing its position as the world's third-largest aircraft lessor. By integrating Macquarie’s operations, DAE now serves an expansive network of over 175 airlines across more than 75 countries, significantly broadening its global footprint and client base.

CEO Firoz Tarapore emphasized that this transaction is a pivotal milestone that enhances DAE’s ability to provide comprehensive fleet solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of an aircraft. With a robust order book that includes commitments for 150 planes from major manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus, the company has secured delivery positions that extend well into the 2030s. This expanded capacity, bolstered by new investment programs like the $1.6 billion "Equator" initiative with Blackstone, ensures that DAE remains well-positioned to meet the evolving demands of the aviation market for years to come.
