CBI Reports Strong 68% Profit Surge in First Half of 2026

Fri, Jul 31, 2026(45d ago)Business

Commercial Bank International (CBI) has delivered an impressive financial performance for the first half of 2026, announcing a 68% year-on-year surge in pre-tax profit to Dh156 million. This growth was largely driven by a combination of expanded lending activities, a 12% rise in total assets to Dh23 billion, and successful efforts to resolve long-standing legacy issues. The bank’s net interest income also saw a healthy 8% increase, reaching Dh207 million, further bolstered by a Dh69 million impairment recovery that underscores improved asset quality.

CEO Ali Sultan Rakkad Al Amri attributed these results to the bank's ongoing transformation strategy and disciplined execution. With customer deposits climbing to Dh16.4 billion and a solid capital adequacy ratio of 16.5%, CBI remains in a strong position to pursue future growth. Moving forward, the bank plans to prioritize innovation and a customer-centric approach, ensuring it remains resilient while continuing to support its clients' evolving financial ambitions.
