UAE and Russia Forge New Economic Ties with Trade and Investment Deal
The UAE and Russia have officially kicked off a new chapter in their economic partnership following the implementation of the Trade in Services and Investment Agreement (Tisia). Signed during President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s recent visit to Moscow, this framework is set to streamline market access and provide robust protections for investors in both nations. This move complements the existing Economic Partnership Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, creating a comprehensive foundation that covers everything from goods and services to long-term cross-border investment.
The timing of this agreement comes on the heels of a massive surge in bilateral non-oil trade, which hit $20.4 billion in 2025—an impressive 77.7 percent jump from the previous year. By cutting through bureaucratic red tape and fostering a more predictable business environment, the Tisia aims to accelerate growth in vital sectors like fintech, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. As the UAE pushes toward its ambitious goal of reaching $1.1 trillion in non-oil foreign trade by 2031, this partnership with Russia stands as a cornerstone of its wider strategy to broaden its global economic footprint.
