Etihad Airways Expands Free Stopover Programme to Al Ain

Wed, Sep 16, 2026(1h ago)Business

Etihad Airways has announced an exciting update to its popular stopover programme, now giving travellers the chance to enjoy a complimentary hotel stay in the historic Al Ain region. Originally launched in 2024, this initiative allows passengers transiting through Zayed International Airport to break up their journey with a free one- or two-night stay in either Abu Dhabi city or Al Ain. This move aligns with Al Ain’s upcoming tenure as the Capital of Arab Tourism 2026, offering visitors a unique opportunity to explore the emirate’s rich UNESCO-listed heritage, lush oases, and stunning desert landscapes at no extra cost.

To make the experience seamless, Etihad is providing free shuttle transfers between the airport and Al Ain, ensuring a stress-free transition for guests. Those who book directly through the airline or participating travel agents can select from several premium properties, such as the Danat Al Ain Resort or the Radisson Blu. Beyond the free accommodation, passengers benefit from the "Stopover Pass," which unlocks exclusive discounts at local dining and attractions, alongside complimentary medical travel insurance for added peace of mind. As travel demand for more immersive transit experiences grows, this partnership between Etihad and the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi successfully turns a standard layover into a memorable mini-vacation.
