Abu Dhabi Stock Market Outperforms GCC Peers in July

Sun, Aug 2, 2026(45d ago)Finance

In a month defined by regional market instability, Abu Dhabi’s stock exchange stood out as a clear leader. The ADX General Index climbed 1.1 percent to reach 9,914.6 points, marking two consecutive months of growth. This upward momentum was largely fueled by robust performances in the financial and telecommunications sectors, with blue-chip stocks like First Abu Dhabi Bank and e& providing a solid floor for the market. Market analysts suggest that positive technical signals, particularly the index breaking past the 200-day moving average, have further solidified investor confidence, bolstered by the IMF’s optimistic outlook on the UAE’s long-term economic resilience.

Conversely, the Dubai Financial Market saw a period of consolidation throughout July, as investors took a breather following earlier rallies. Despite a slight pullback, the market is now viewed as increasingly attractive due to more favorable valuations, with the forward price-to-earnings ratio sitting at roughly 9.8 times. While some sectors saw a dip, defensive stocks like DEWA and Spinneys continued to draw interest. As the region pivots toward the next phase of corporate earnings reports, investors remain focused on how utility, logistics, and consumer-facing sectors will navigate the current landscape to sustain the UAE’s strong economic momentum.
