Dubai Police Rescue Hiker After Two-Day Ordeal in Hatta Mountains
A massive search and rescue operation was successfully concluded this week after Dubai Police located an Arab national who had become stranded in the rugged Hatta mountains. The alarm was raised last Saturday when the hiker contacted the force's Command and Control Centre for urgent assistance. A coordinated effort involving the Hatta Police, the Dubai Police Air Wing, the National Guard, and the Brave Team was immediately launched to comb the difficult terrain. Rescuers faced significant hurdles, including treacherous, steep slopes and imprecise location data, but they persisted for two days until the individual was found and provided with vital medical support.
Following the successful rescue, Brigadier Mubarak Al Ketbi, Director of Hatta Police Station, highlighted the department's constant state of readiness to handle emergencies in the region’s challenging landscape. The specialized Brave Team is equipped with high-tech tools, including drones with thermal imaging, quad bikes, and advanced communication systems, allowing them to navigate mountains and valleys effectively. As these areas remain popular with visitors, authorities are reminding the public to prioritize safety and utilize the Dubai Police smart app’s SOS feature or call 999 immediately should they find themselves in distress.
