UAE Residents Capture Rare Hailstorms and Rushing Wadis Amid Heavy Downpours
Parts of the UAE experienced a dramatic shift in weather this past Tuesday as heavy rain and rare hailstorms swept across both urban centers and desert landscapes. In a viral clip, one resident was seen enthusiastically collecting hailstones in a bucket while the sound of ice pelting the ground filled the air. However, the scene quickly turned from wonder to caution as flash flooding began to surge rapidly around him, forcing the man to make a hurried escape to higher ground as the water levels rose.
Similar sights were reported in Fujairah, where hailstones blanketed the sandy terrain and powerful currents roared through wadis near Sheikh Khalifa Road. In response to these intense conditions, the Ministry of Interior has urged the public to exercise extreme caution, advising residents to stay clear of flood-prone areas and wadis. These weather patterns align with recent warnings from the National Centre of Meteorology, which suggests that the influence of El Niño could lead to above-average rainfall across the country throughout the coming months.
