Sheikh Hamdan Unveils Ambitious Dh2 Billion Dubai Urban Development Strategy
In a significant move to reshape the city’s landscape, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has announced a major urban development plan backed by an investment exceeding Dh2 billion. Approved by the Dubai Executive Council, this initiative is designed to foster integrated communities that prioritize sustainable growth while directly addressing the evolving needs of residents. The ambitious project is expected to boost the real estate value of designated urban centers by a substantial Dh20 billion, with a strategic focus on elevating infrastructure efficiency, driving economic growth, and enhancing the overall quality of life for those living in the emirate.
Beyond mere construction, the plan sets clear targets to improve urban connectivity and accessibility, aiming to ensure that 74% of Dubai’s population resides within walking distance of metro stations, while expanding public service coverage to reach 85%. Alongside these physical upgrades, the council introduced a new Sustainable Population Planning Policy to better synchronize economic and demographic growth. By also launching a streamlined Digital Authorisation System, Dubai is reinforcing its commitment to a seamless, high-tech government experience, ensuring the city remains a global leader in innovation and long-term livability for future generations.
