Dubai Police Launches Summer Camp Focusing on Youth Safety and Digital Awareness
As schools across the UAE break for the summer, the Dubai Police have rolled out their highly anticipated annual youth programme, which this year takes a targeted approach toward modern safety concerns. Aimed at students aged 11 to 18, the initiative has seen explosive popularity, with the Hemaya International Centreâs registration portal logging over 124,000 visitors shortly after launch. Unlike standard recreational camps, this programme uses data from criminal investigation and traffic departments to create a curriculum that directly addresses real-world dangers, specifically the rising prevalence of vaping among teens and the hazardous misuse of e-scooters on busy public roads.
Beyond simple awareness, the programme emphasizes physical fitness, teamwork, and military-style discipline to keep youth engaged and productive during their break. However, officials like Brigadier Dr. Abdul Rahman Sharaf Al Maamari are quick to remind parents that the camp is only one part of the solution. He emphasized that families remain the primary line of defense, particularly when it comes to monitoring e-scooter usage and ensuring children use designated, safe areas rather than high-traffic streets. By opening this historically exclusive initiative to students of all nationalities, Dubai Police aims to foster a generation that is not only physically fit but also keenly aware of their responsibilities in a fast-paced urban environment.
