Indian Consulate in Dubai Streamlines Passport Services Amid High Demand
Hundreds of Indian expatriates in the UAE have been arriving at the Consulate General of India in Dubai as early as 6:30 am to secure essential consular services. Following legal challenges involving their external service provider, the Indian mission has stepped in to manage passport, visa, and attestation requests directly on a walk-in basis. Despite the massive influx of over 1,400 visitors in a single day, the consulate has earned praise for its organized approach, which includes setting up shaded waiting areas, providing refreshments, and offering dedicated rooms for nursing mothers.
The mission has mobilized over a hundred staff members who are working grueling 13-to-14-hour shifts to clear the backlog and assist applicants. Many visitors, including those seeking renewals and attestations, have expressed gratitude for the supportive environment, noting that officers are prioritizing the elderly, newborns, and individuals with special needs. Beyond the operational efficiency, applicants have been pleasantly surprised by the cost-effectiveness of the direct services, reporting significantly lower fees compared to previous experiences with private outsourcing centers. As peak summer travel demand persists, the consulate continues to expand its reach by hosting pop-up attestation camps in Sharjah and Fujairah to better serve the community.
