Dubai Police Warns Against Viral 'Microwave Slime' Trend

Sat, Jul 4, 2026(4h ago)UAE

Dubai authorities have issued a stern warning following a dangerous social media trend that encourages children and teens to heat slime in microwaves to improve its texture. Officials from the Child and Women Protection and Cybercrime departments emphasized that this practice is extremely hazardous, as heating slime triggers chemical reactions and intense heat. When these materials are microwaved, they can expand rapidly, release scorching vapors, or even explode, leading to severe burns on a child’s face, hands, and body.

Beyond the immediate physical danger to youngsters, authorities pointed out that this trend poses a significant fire hazard and can easily damage kitchen appliances. To combat these risks, the police are urging parents to keep a closer eye on their children’s online activities and to ensure that young people do not use kitchen electronics without adult supervision. Families are encouraged to visit the official Dubai Police E-Crime Hub to learn more about protecting children in the digital age and navigating the potential threats found on social media.
