UAE to Provide Free Fire Alarm Maintenance for Over 25,000 Families
In a significant move to bolster home safety, the UAE has announced a Dh10 million initiative to provide free maintenance for Hassantuk fire-warning systems for over 25,000 low-income households. This collaborative effort, spearheaded by the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and the Ministry of Community Empowerment in partnership with the Ministry of Interior, ensures that vulnerable families will not face any costs for equipment upkeep or annual subscription fees. Starting in 2026, the program aims to conduct nationwide surveys and technical assessments to ensure these critical safety devices remain fully operational, directly supporting the government's commitment to family stability and national wellbeing.
The Hassantuk system, which translates to "protected you," has become a cornerstone of the UAE’s emergency response infrastructure since its launch in 2018. As a mandatory wireless monitoring system that connects homes directly to Civil Defence command centers, it has proven instrumental in reducing fire-related tragedies; notably, its initial rollout contributed to a 62 percent decline in fire-related fatalities by mid-2021. By continuing to subsidize this technology for those in need, the authorities are not only reinforcing the goals of the "Year of Family 2026" but are also maintaining a proactive defense against residential fire hazards across the nation.
