UAE Students Offered Unique Summer Opportunities in Marine Science and Dairy Farming
The UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has unveiled the third iteration of its "Mustadeem" programme, an immersive summer initiative designed to introduce students to vital careers in sustainability and food security. This year’s program is split into two distinct tracks: a marine environment course for high schoolers (Grades 9-12) held in early August, and a livestock and food security workshop for middle schoolers (Grades 6-8) taking place later in the month. By collaborating with institutions like the University of Khorfakkan and the Mleiha Dairy Farm, the initiative moves beyond traditional classroom learning, offering participants hands-on experience in water quality monitoring, veterinary medicine, and aquaculture.
Beyond the field work, Mustadeem serves as a long-term investment in the next generation of Emirati leaders. The program culminates in collaborative challenges, such as a hackathon where students must tackle real-world agricultural problems, reflecting the nation's broader push toward sustainability. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, emphasized that these experiences are essential for equipping youth with the innovative mindset needed to drive the country’s future economy.
