RAK Police Rescue Hiker Stranded at 2,000ft Altitude
The Ras Al Khaimah Police Air Wing successfully conducted a daring rescue operation to save an Emirati citizen who had become trapped in the rugged Wadi Sheha mountains. Upon receiving an emergency call, authorities immediately deployed a helicopter to the remote location, situated at an elevation of 2,000 feet. The individual was safely airlifted from the site and transported to a nearby government hospital to undergo a comprehensive medical evaluation.
Following the mission, Major Pilot Abdullah Ali Al Shehhi emphasized the department's constant state of readiness to handle emergencies across all terrains and climates. He issued a stern warning to the public, urging hikers to exercise extreme caution when exploring difficult mountain paths, especially during the sweltering summer months. Experts continue to stress that many such incidents are preventable, noting that poor preparation and overconfidence—rather than simple misfortune—are the leading causes of exhaustion and distress for those venturing into these challenging landscapes.
