UAE to Expect Scattered Rains Despite Sweltering Summer Heat

Thu, Jul 30, 2026(45d ago)UAE

Residents across the UAE are in for a surprising shift in weather as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) predicts cloudy conditions and intermittent rainfall lasting through Monday, August 3. While the country is in the grips of peak summer, experts attribute this unusual climate activity to the current El Niño wave. This phenomenon is responsible for a rise in atmospheric moisture and humidity levels, which has already triggered convective cloud formations and sporadic showers, including hail, in regions like Al Ain, Fujairah, and Ras Al Khaimah. Despite the potential for rain, temperatures will remain characteristically high, as the heat associated with this climate pattern persists.

Meteorologists note that while the impact of El Niño is currently more pronounced in East Asia, the UAE will likely experience its influence more significantly as the seasons transition into autumn, particularly by October and November. For the immediate future, residents should expect fair to partly cloudy skies with afternoon convective clouds forming over eastern and southern areas. Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant, advising motorists to exercise caution on the roads and warning adventurers to stay away from valleys and wadis that may become hazardous due to flash flooding. Residents are encouraged to monitor official updates and avoid spreading unverified rumors during this period.
