Saudia Clarifies Stance on Aircraft Sale Amid Sanctions Allegations

Sat, Jul 4, 2026(5h ago)World

Saudi Arabia’s national flag carrier, Saudia, has officially addressed recent rumors circulating online that suggested the airline transferred former Boeing 777-200 aircraft to an operator currently under international sanctions. In a formal statement released on X this past Saturday, the airline clarified that the aircraft in question was sold to a non-Saudi entity back in June 2023. The group emphasized that the entire sale process adhered strictly to all necessary legal and commercial standards.

Since the transaction was finalized over a year ago, Saudia maintains that it holds no further operational or commercial ties to the specific aircraft. By issuing this clarification, the carrier aims to distance itself from how the plane may have been used or managed following the change in ownership. While the airline did not disclose the identity of the buyer, the statement serves as a direct rebuttal to public speculation regarding its potential involvement with blacklisted carriers.
