Rescue mission underway after cargo ship sinks off India’s coast
A major search-and-rescue operation is currently underway off the coast of eastern India following the sinking of a Panama-flagged cargo vessel. The ship, identified as the Ocean Winner, was transporting iron ore from Paradip port to Singapore when it mysteriously went down approximately 240 nautical miles offshore. The Indian Coast Guard has mobilized rescue vessels from Sri Vijaya Puram to coordinate the emergency response, though the exact cause of the disaster remains unknown.
According to officials, there were 24 crew members on board at the time of the incident, consisting of 20 Chinese nationals, three individuals from Myanmar, and one from Bangladesh. So far, search teams have managed to locate and rescue two survivors from life rafts. As authorities continue to comb the area, port officials have expressed their deep concern for the remaining crew, with the operation ongoing as rescuers work against the clock to locate the missing seafarers.
