UAE Minister Advocates for Sudan Peace and Civilian Governance at Oslo Forum
During the recent Oslo Forum in Norway, UAE Minister of State Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan joined global policymakers and peace experts to address the escalating crisis in Sudan. Emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict, the Minister reaffirmed the UAE’s firm commitment to a political process steered by civilians. He argued that establishing an independent, civilian-led government is the only way to meet the Sudanese people’s fundamental needs for security and long-term stability.
In addition to pushing for a political transition, Sheikh Shakhboot issued an urgent call for an unconditional humanitarian truce and a permanent ceasefire to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese population. He urged for more robust international and regional cooperation to streamline aid and manage the worsening humanitarian fallout. Throughout the event, the Minister engaged in various bilateral discussions with international envoys, underscoring the UAE’s active role in fostering dialogue and finding a sustainable resolution to the violence in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel region.
