Weebly to Exit UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Dozens of Other Markets by Late 2026
Popular website builder Weebly is set to officially cease operations across 67 countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Oman, by September 2026. The company, which is owned by the payment processor Square, cited evolving international regulations and a desire to streamline its global business operations as the primary reasons for the move. While the company claims these shifts are regulatory, many industry observers speculate that the decision is part of a broader strategy by Square to transition its user base toward its own "Square Online" platform.
Users in the affected regions must act quickly to preserve their work, as the shutdown process is already underway. New page publishing was disabled for these markets as of June 29, and by September 27, 2026, all existing websites will be unpublished. It is critical for account holders to download their content and data via the "My Data" section in their Account Settings before this deadline. Furthermore, those looking to transfer their domain names should initiate the process through their dashboard by disabling the registrar lock, though they must avoid updating contact information to prevent a mandatory 60-day transfer freeze. Full access to Weebly accounts will be permanently revoked on December 26, 2026.
