UAE Pledges $30 Million to Address Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan

Mon, Jul 6, 2026(3h ago)UAE

Under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE has committed $30 million in emergency humanitarian aid to assist civilians caught in the escalating crisis in El Obeid, North Kordofan. This significant financial injection, managed by the UAE Aid Agency, is intended to provide critical relief, including food, healthcare, clean water, and shelter for displaced persons. The initiative underscores the UAE’s long-standing dedication to alleviating the suffering of the Sudanese people, bringing the country’s total aid contribution to Sudan to approximately $800 million since the onset of the conflict.

The UAE government has issued an urgent call for international collaboration, emphasizing that the protection of civilians must be the top priority for all involved parties. By coordinating closely with the United Nations and other global partners, the UAE aims to ensure that life-saving aid reaches the most vulnerable—particularly children, the elderly, and women—without political interference. Furthermore, officials have reiterated that military actions cannot resolve the instability in Sudan, advocating instead for a civilian-led political process that restores peace, preserves national unity, and prioritizes the security and dignity of the Sudanese population.
