UAE Court Orders Man to Pay Dh20,000 Over Home Intrusion
An Al Ain court has ordered a man to pay Dh20,000 in compensation after he was found guilty of trespassing into a woman's home. The civil ruling follows a prior criminal conviction, where the defendant was found to have violated the victim's privacy by entering her residence without consent. With the criminal verdict now final and unchallenged, the civil court focused solely on the extent of the damages caused by the intrusion.
In her lawsuit, the victim described the encounter as a deeply traumatic experience that shattered her sense of security and left her suffering from persistent anxiety and distress. The court acknowledged that the unauthorized entry was part of an ongoing conflict between the two parties, ultimately ruling that the perpetrator’s actions directly caused significant moral and psychological harm. As a result, the judge mandated the payment of Dh20,000 in damages, alongside covering all related legal fees, upholding the UAE legal principle that those who inflict harm upon others are held accountable for restitution.
