UAE Streamlines Work Permit Process Through Automated Health Insurance Checks

Tue, Jul 28, 2026(45d ago)UAE

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has launched a fully digital integration between work permit processing and health insurance verification. By automating these checks, the government aims to eliminate manual document uploads, significantly speeding up the issuance and renewal of permits. This new mechanism ensures that every employer provides valid, comprehensive health coverage for their staff as required by law, without imposing any additional administrative burdens or costs on businesses.

Omar Saeed Al Mansoori, Director of Labour Protection Programmes, stressed that the financial responsibility for health insurance rests solely with the employer. To protect workers, the ministry has clarified that any employer found forcing staff to cover their own insurance or medical costs will face repercussions, and employees are encouraged to report such violations through the ministry's official channels. With the national health insurance mandate now fully implemented as of early 2025, this automated system creates a unified, efficient standard for both private sector employees and domestic helpers across all emirates.
