Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Dust Storms Sweep Across the UAE

Thu, Jul 30, 2026(1h ago)UAE

The United Arab Emirates faced a dramatic shift in weather this Wednesday, July 29, as the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) issued an orange alert due to unstable conditions. Throughout the day, several regions—including parts of Dubai and the areas north of Al Ain—experienced heavy downpours, strong winds, and thick blowing dust. The NCM had cautioned that convective cloud activity would likely intensify between 1 pm and 8 pm, bringing intense wind gusts reaching up to 50 km/h that significantly hampered visibility across the affected territories.

As the storms rolled in, social media was flooded with footage of the downpours, particularly along Al Shuwaib Road. With horizontal visibility dropping due to the swirling sand and rain, authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the roads. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and keep a close eye on official weather updates as these isolated, intense summer convective storms continue to impact various parts of the country.
