CBI Sees 58% Profit Surge as Legacy Challenges Fade
Commercial Bank International (CBI) has delivered an impressive financial performance for the first nine months of 2026, recording a 58% year-on-year jump in pre-tax profit to Dh172.5 million. This strong growth was primarily fueled by a 7% increase in net interest income, which reached Dh309.5 million, alongside a significant 10% rise in total assets to Dh23 billion. The bank credited its success to a combination of strategic loan expansion, a growing investment portfolio, and the successful resolution of long-standing legacy issues, which resulted in a net impairment recovery of Dh31.5 million.
CEO Ali Sultan Rakkad Al Amri noted that these results highlight the success of the bank’s ongoing transformation strategy. By balancing business expansion with disciplined cost management and a focus on asset quality, CBI has strengthened its financial resilience. Furthermore, the bank’s capital adequacy ratio improved to 16.8%, comfortably exceeding regulatory standards. Moving forward, the institution plans to maintain this momentum by prioritizing sustainable growth and enhancing the overall experience for its shareholders and customers alike.
