Abu Dhabi Celebrates International Museum Day with Three Days of Free Access
To mark this year’s International Museum Day, Abu Dhabi is opening the doors to its most iconic cultural landmarks and museums completely free of charge. From May 16 to 18, residents and tourists alike can explore a diverse array of venues across the emirate, including the Saadiyat Cultural District, Al Ain, and Delma Island. Operating under the theme "Museums Uniting a Divided World," the initiative aims to foster community connections and cultural dialogue through a packed schedule of live performances, guided tours, and interactive workshops designed for all ages.
Highlights of the celebration include hands-on science activities at the Natural History Museum, free access to the permanent galleries at the Louvre Abu Dhabi, and immersive heritage experiences at the Zayed National Museum. Families can participate in scavenger hunts and traditional crafts, while students have the unique opportunity to explore museum careers at the Al Maqta’a Museum. With specialized programming ranging from children’s takeovers at Qasr Al Hosn to creative storytelling sessions at local libraries, the three-day event provides a fantastic opportunity to engage with the UAE’s rich heritage and vibrant arts scene without the cost of admission.
