Dubai Ruler Extends Life-Saving Support to Jordanian Toddler with Rare Condition

Fri, Aug 21, 2026(3h ago)UAE

In a heartwarming display of compassion, the Ruler of Dubai has stepped in to fully fund the medical treatment for Katya Abu Al-Saud, a 16-month-old Jordanian girl diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy. The toddler’s family had recently launched a desperate online appeal to raise the $2.4 million required for a vital gene therapy injection not available in Jordan. With medical experts stressing that the life-saving procedure must be administered before the child reaches the age of two, the family’s frantic search for help has finally come to an end, with the treatment set to be provided at Dubai’s Al Jalila Hospital.

This act of humanitarian aid is part of a long-standing tradition of generosity from the Dubai Ruler, who has frequently intervened to cover the costs of expensive, life-saving procedures for children in need. From sponsoring the world’s most costly genetic treatments to funding complex cancer therapies for patients who lacked the resources to pay, his direct support has saved numerous lives. Through the Al Jalila Foundation and personal contributions, he continues to ensure that vulnerable children gain access to critical medical care that would otherwise be out of reach.
