Dubai’s RTA Revamps Driving Curriculum to Include Modern Vehicle Tech
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has officially updated its light vehicle driving curriculum to ensure new drivers are well-versed in the sophisticated safety features found in today's automobiles. As vehicle technology advances, the authority is mandating training on essential systems such as blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, and automated parking assistance. By integrating these technical modules into both theoretical and practical lessons, the RTA aims to help motorists better navigate modern vehicles while fostering a culture of road safety that aligns with global standards.
Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Drivers Licensing, emphasized that these adjustments were developed in close partnership with local driving institutes to guarantee that students are prepared for the realities of contemporary driving. Beyond simple instruction, the RTA has conducted dedicated workshops for training centers to ensure that the curriculum is consistently applied across all practice vehicles. Ultimately, this initiative is part of a broader mission to lower accident rates and modernize the emirate’s transport sector, ensuring that every new driver is fully equipped to leverage advanced driver assistance systems effectively.
