CBSE Clarifies Evaluation Concerns Following Class 12 Results

Fri, May 15, 2026(53d ago)UAE

Following the declaration of the CBSE Class 12 results, a noticeable drop in the overall pass percentage sparked widespread concern among students. Many candidates expressed dissatisfaction with their scores, raising questions about the board's new "On-Screen Marking" system. This digital evaluation process, which requires teachers to grade scanned answer scripts via computer screens rather than traditional physical copies, became the primary point of contention for those who felt their results did not reflect their actual performance.

In response, the CBSE issued a formal notice on May 15 to address these anxieties and reaffirm its commitment to a transparent and fair assessment process. The board explained that examiners underwent specialized training to ensure the digital marking system is accurate. To help students address any perceived discrepancies, the CBSE highlighted its two-stage review mechanism, which allows pupils to request scanned copies of their answer sheets for personal verification before applying for a formal re-evaluation.

The board further defended the transition to digital assessment by emphasizing its operational advantages. By replacing manual workflows with the On-Screen Marking method, the CBSE aims to eliminate common human errors—such as mistakes in totaling marks or uploading data—while simultaneously promoting greater transparency in the evaluation process. Ultimately, the board remains confident that this modernized system will provide a more efficient and reliable experience for both educators and students alike.
