UAE Weather Update: Temperature Drop and Dusty Skies Expected

Sun, May 17, 2026(51d ago)UAE

The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has forecasted a shift in weather patterns for the UAE on Monday, May 18. While residents can generally look forward to fair conditions, the day will likely be punctuated by stretches of dust. The Met office has indicated a welcome, albeit slight, decline in temperatures across the nation, providing a minor reprieve from the ongoing heat. In Abu Dhabi, thermometers are expected to peak at 40°C, while Dubai and Sharjah will see slightly cooler maximums reaching 39°C, with overnight lows dipping into the mid-20s.

The day will be characterized by northwesterly winds that will blow at a light to moderate pace, occasionally picking up speed to reach up to 40 kmph, which is the primary driver behind the anticipated dusty and hazy conditions. Those heading to the coast should exercise caution, as the Arabian Gulf is expected to be rough, with the Oman Sea ranging from moderate to rough. These fluctuations in wind and temperature are part of a broader weather trend lasting through May 19, where recurring gusts are likely to stir up sand and dust across various parts of the country.
