Emirates Unveils Plans for Massive $5 Billion Engineering Hub
Emirates Engineering has officially partnered with the China Railway Construction Company (CRCC) to develop a massive, state-of-the-art engineering complex at Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). With an investment exceeding $5 billion, the project is set to cover approximately 1 million square meters, making it one of the largest and most advanced aviation maintenance facilities in the world. The agreement was finalized this week by Emirates Chairperson Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and CRCC Chairperson Dai Hegen, marking a significant step forward in Dubai’s long-term aviation infrastructure strategy.
Once completed between 2030 and the mid-2030s, the facility will be roughly double the size of the airline’s existing operations. According to Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and CEO of Emirates Airline, the hub will be capable of servicing 28 wide-body aircraft at once, facilitating everything from routine maintenance to complex passenger-to-freighter conversions. Designed as a "centre of excellence," the complex will also feature advanced painting hangars, allowing for multiple wide-body aircraft to be serviced simultaneously, further cementing Emirates' position as a global leader in aviation engineering.
