UAE Initiative Empowers Civilians with Lifesaving First Aid Skills
A significant effort is underway in the UAE to bridge the gap between professional emergency responders and everyday citizens. During a recent demonstration at the International Exhibition for National Security and Resilience (ISNR 2026) in Abu Dhabi, experts from Prometheus Medical International showcased how quickly a life can be lost to severe trauma, such as massive blood loss. By using hyper-realistic mannequins, trainers are teaching non-medical staff—ranging from hotel personnel to corporate employees—how to perform critical interventions like applying tourniquets, packing wounds, and managing airways. The goal is to ensure that bystanders have the confidence and capability to act during the vital minutes before professional paramedics arrive on the scene.
Recognizing the evolving global risk landscape, Prometheus Medical International is currently offering this high-level trauma training free of charge to organizations across the country. The curriculum emphasizes that one does not need a medical degree to make a difference; even simple, improvised items like scarves or belts can serve as lifesavers in a crisis. With the backing of the UAE’s "Good Samaritan" laws, the initiative aims to build a more resilient society by empowering the public to take action. Interested employees are encouraged to coordinate with their HR departments to schedule these hands-on workshops, while individuals can also supplement their learning through accessible online modules.
