The Rise of AI Civil Servants: How the UAE is Revolutionizing Public Service

Wed, May 20, 2026(93d ago)UAE

The UAE is aggressively reshaping its public sector by integrating AI virtual assistants into day-to-day government operations. A prime example is the Ministry of Economy and Tourism’s recent launch of ‘Rashid,’ an AI assistant tailored to provide economic and tourism updates. Rashid joins an expanding digital workforce that includes established systems like DEWA’s ‘Rammas,’ which has handled millions of customer inquiries, and Dubai Municipality’s ‘Fares.’ This transition is moving beyond simple chatbots; entities like DEWA are now even preparing for "virtual engineers" capable of predictive infrastructure maintenance, signaling a shift toward more complex, autonomous digital employees.

This digital evolution is part of a broader, government-wide mandate directed by UAE leadership to implement Agentic AI across half of all federal operations within two years. Unlike traditional AI, Agentic AI acts independently to analyze data and execute complex tasks without constant human oversight. To support this transition, the UAE government has launched a massive upskilling initiative aimed at training 80,000 employees to collaborate with these new digital tools. By embracing this technology, the UAE is not only enhancing efficiency and service speed for citizens and investors but also cementing its status as a global leader in the future of AI-driven governance.
