UAE’s 'Accident-Free Day' Initiative Offers License Relief for Safe Drivers
The UAE’s Federal Traffic Council has officially launched its annual "Accident-Free Day" campaign, inviting motorists to clear four black points from their driving records. Registration opened on August 17, ahead of the main event scheduled for August 31, which coincides with the busy start of the new school year. To participate, drivers can sign up via the Ministry of Interior’s social media channels by scanning the provided QR code and authenticating their identity through UAE Pass. Once a pledge of commitment to road safety is signed, participants receive a digital certificate, marking their official entry into the program.
However, earning the point reduction requires more than just signing up; drivers must strictly adhere to road safety protocols throughout the day. Key requirements include maintaining safe following distances, yielding to pedestrians, using seat belts, and strictly observing speed limits and lane discipline. By targeting the first day of school, when road congestion typically spikes, the initiative aims to protect students and commuters alike. Ultimately, this campaign serves as an incentive for motorists to foster safer, more responsible habits that extend well beyond the single day of the event, helping them avoid the long-term consequences of accumulating 24 black points, which can lead to license suspension or court action.
