Sharjah Extends Business Hours for Eid Al Adha

Thu, May 21, 2026(92d ago)UAE

Sharjah Municipality has officially opened applications for businesses wishing to extend their operating hours throughout the upcoming Eid Al Adha festivities. Commercial establishments looking to remain open past midnight between May 27 and May 29 can now secure the necessary authorization through the municipal website at www.shjmun.gov.ae. To finalize the process, owners are required to provide a copy of their trade license and pay a total fee of Dh1,020.50, which covers the issuance costs. Please note that this extension is intended for retail and service sectors, as construction contracting companies are explicitly excluded from the permit eligibility.

This initiative coincides with the UAE's announcement of a five-day public holiday for Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha, running from May 25 through May 29. Given Sharjah’s unique four-day workweek policy, which includes a three-day weekend, government employees are set to enjoy a significant 10-day break. While most offices will resume operations on June 1, those working under shift-based systems will follow their pre-determined schedules to ensure essential services remain uninterrupted during the holiday period.
