Dubai Honours Founding History with New Sheikh Zayed Farm Street
In a tribute to the UAE’s formative years, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has officially renamed Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej to Sheikh Zayed Farm Street. This decision highlights the location's deep historical roots, as it served as a pivotal meeting ground in March 1971. It was at this farm that the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan hosted the Rulers of the Emirates for crucial discussions that ultimately set the stage for the signing of the Union Agreement and the nation’s constitution later that same year.
This initiative follows President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's recent designation of the farm as a national union site, placing it in the same prestigious category as Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira. By connecting modern infrastructure to such significant landmarks, Dubai aims to bridge the gap between its rapid urban development and its cultural heritage. The renaming serves as a lasting reminder of the Founding Fathers' vision, ensuring that the legacy of unity and the values that shaped the nation remain preserved for future generations.
