Abu Dhabi Court Imposes Life Sentence on Expat for Drug Trafficking
An Abu Dhabi court has handed down a life sentence to an expatriate man found guilty of drug trafficking and personal consumption. The defendant was apprehended during a controlled operation by authorities while attempting to sell crystal meth for money. Following his arrest, forensic analysis confirmed the substance was a prohibited psychotropic drug, and toxicology reports verified that the man had also been using the illicit substance himself.
Despite the defendant's attempt to challenge the verdict by alleging procedural flaws and questioning the reliance on a single officer's testimony, the court maintained its firm stance. Judges ruled that the combination of the officer's statement, the forensic evidence, and the defendant's own admissions provided an airtight case. Consequently, the man was sentenced to life imprisonment followed by mandatory deportation, hit with a Dh100,000 fine, and ordered to forfeit the seized narcotics.
