UAE Humanitarian Aid Offers Lifeline to Families of Road Accident Victims
When seven workers—six from India and one from Sri Lanka—lost their lives in a devastating road accident in Dubai, the tragedy sent shockwaves through their grieving families. Many of these men had left their homes with a simple, hopeful promise: to work abroad for a few years to build a house, clear debts, or fund their children’s education. Instead, their sudden deaths left behind empty chairs and a future filled with uncertainty. Families in rural Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Sri Lanka are now struggling to process the loss of their primary breadwinners, whose sacrifices were meant to provide a path to stability but instead ended in heartbreak.
In a move to provide hope amidst this despair, UAE-based billionaire Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil has launched a Dh1 million humanitarian initiative to support the survivors. Each affected family is receiving Dh100,000, along with tailored educational support to ensure the victims' children can continue their schooling. For 17-year-old Ankita Chauhan, daughter of the late Markandey Chauhan, this assistance has become a beacon of light; she has received a commitment that her nursing education will be funded, with a future job opportunity awaiting her in the UAE. While the financial aid cannot replace the fathers and sons who were lost, these efforts are helping the grieving families hold onto the dreams of a better life that their loved ones fought so hard to secure.
