Eight Nations Denounce Israel’s Rejection of Gaza Peace Roadmap
A coalition of foreign ministers from the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia has issued a strong rebuke against Israel for rejecting the US-backed peace roadmap for Gaza. This framework, which has already been endorsed by the UN Security Council and accepted by Palestinian factions, outlines a clear path toward ending the conflict, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the oversight of weaponry, and the transition of administrative authority. The ministers argued that Israel’s refusal to engage with this plan, combined with its vocal opposition to Palestinian statehood, threatens to derail critical international efforts to stabilize the region.
The participating nations emphasized that Israel bears full responsibility for any further escalation or humanitarian deterioration caused by blocking these peace efforts. They urged the United States to maintain active involvement to ensure compliance with the roadmap’s stipulations, which are essential for long-term recovery and reconstruction. Ultimately, the group reaffirmed that a sustainable peace can only be achieved through a two-state solution, insisting on the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law.
