UGC-NET Re-exams Scheduled After Major Paper Errors
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced that UGC-NET examinations for English, Commerce, and Sociology will be held again following the discovery of significant errors in the original question papers. An investigation committee confirmed a wide array of issues, ranging from factual and typographical mistakes to incoherent translations and repeated questions. Officials concluded that the integrity of the testing process could only be restored by discarding the previous attempts for these subjects and scheduling a complete re-examination.
The revised tests are set to take place in September 2026, with English and Commerce scheduled for September 9 and Sociology following on September 10. The NTA has clarified that affected students will not incur any additional costs, and they are encouraged to monitor the official website for updates regarding admit cards and exam centers. While these three subjects face delays, the assessment for the other 84 subjects remains on track, as the agency attempts to regain public trust following recent controversies regarding exam integrity and administrative leadership changes.
