Iran Announces Bounty on US Troops
In a provocative move, the Iranian military has declared a reward of $30,000 for the capture or killing of any American soldiers currently present in the region. According to state news agency IRNA, army chief Amir Hatami announced that this initiative was developed in response to widespread public interest in financially supporting such operations. Notably, the policy includes a significant incentive for women, promising to double the payout to $60,000 for any female operative who carries out a similar action.
While Hatami did not specify the intended timing or geographic scope for these operations, the declaration highlights the ongoing instability following the collapse of peace efforts earlier this year. Hostilities between the two nations have persisted sporadically since the initial conflict began in late February, primarily concentrated around the Strait of Hormuz and southern Iran. Despite these threats, there have been no reports of a sustained US ground troop presence in the country, with American involvement largely restricted to limited aerial engagements and rescue missions.
