EGA Launches UAE’s Largest Aluminum Recycling Facility
Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has officially launched the UAE’s biggest aluminum recycling plant in Al Taweelah, a strategic move designed to bolster the nation's circular economy and ramp up the production of low-carbon metal. Boasting an annual capacity of 185,000 tonnes, the facility transforms post-consumer and pre-consumer scrap into sustainable products marketed under the company’s "RevivAL" brand. By keeping this process local rather than exporting scrap for overseas processing, EGA is positioning itself as the nation’s primary consumer of recycled aluminum while offering innovative, low-carbon blends like "CelestiAL-R" and "MinimAL-R" to the global market.
The project, which saw a safe completion after four million work hours, underscores the UAE’s commitment to sustainable industrial growth. During the inauguration, government officials highlighted that recycling aluminum is essential to the national vision, as the process consumes 95% less energy than primary production. With this new facility, combined with ongoing international expansions in Germany, Italy, and the United States, EGA is aggressively scaling its global recycling footprint. The company now oversees a total recycling capacity exceeding 400,000 tonnes annually, with additional projects already in the pipeline to further cement its leadership in the green metals sector.
