Lulu Group Boosts Gujarat Expansion with New Dh1.5 Billion Investment
The UAE-based Lulu Group has unveiled plans for a major Dh1.5 billion mixed-use development in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, marking a significant step in the deepening economic ties between the UAE and India. This expansive project, spanning nearly 21 acres, will feature a modern shopping mall, a luxury five-star hotel, and serviced apartments, with expectations to generate over 15,000 local jobs. Beyond retail and hospitality, the group is also laying the groundwork for a food park and a specialized fish-processing facility, further solidifying the state’s role as a vital industrial hub.
This new commitment builds upon the existing momentum of UAE capital flowing into the region, most notably alongside DP World’s massive Dh11 billion investment in Gujarat’s logistics and port infrastructure. UAE Economy Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri highlighted that Gujarat’s diverse industrial landscape—ranging from renewable energy to advanced manufacturing—makes it a cornerstone of the UAE-India Economic Corridor. With the Gujarati community in the UAE growing rapidly and businesses expanding, these strategic investments are fostering a collaborative environment aimed at strengthening food security, supply chain resilience, and cross-border trade for years to come.
