Oman and Angola Forge Strategic Energy Partnership
Oman’s state-owned energy group, OQ, has officially entered into two landmark agreements with Angolan partners to boost collaboration across the energy sector. Finalized during Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’s recent diplomatic visit, the pacts involve Angola’s Ministry of Energy and Water and the state oil company, Sonangol. These deals are designed to unlock potential across a broad spectrum of projects, ranging from traditional oil and gas exploration and LNG to large-scale petrochemical and fertilizer production.
Beyond conventional resources, the partnership places a heavy emphasis on sustainability. OQ Alternative Energy is set to collaborate with Angolan officials to evaluate the development of a 500-megawatt renewable energy project, which will also incorporate advanced battery storage systems. By pooling technical expertise and capital, both nations aim to accelerate Angola’s energy transition and strengthen their respective positions in the global market. Leaders from both sides have lauded the initiative as a pivotal step in fostering long-term economic growth, knowledge sharing, and the modernization of vital energy infrastructure.
