Dubai’s First Student Majlis Empowers Youth to Tackle Modern Challenges
More than 100 students from Dubai’s private schools recently gathered at the University of Birmingham Dubai for the inaugural Student Majlis. Organized by the Dubai Students Council in collaboration with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) and the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the event served as a dynamic incubator for student-led solutions. By focusing on critical issues like road safety and the ethical integration of artificial intelligence, the platform encouraged participants to transition from passive learners to active architects of their educational future.
The workshops employed a design-thinking approach, allowing students to move beyond theory to build prototypes aimed at solving real-world dilemmas, such as enhancing safety in school zones and promoting responsible driving habits. According to Amer Al Madani of the KHDA, this initiative is a cornerstone of the "Education 33 Strategy," which prioritizes student agency in the learning process. As these young leaders presented their visions for future-ready school environments, they highlighted a clear mandate: to foster critical thinking and personal responsibility in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.
