New Date Announced for NEET-UG Re-Examination

Fri, May 15, 2026(98d ago)UAE

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially scheduled the NEET-UG re-examination for June 21, 2026, following the cancellation of the May 3 test due to significant concerns regarding its integrity. While the NTA acknowledged the frustration this decision has caused for students and their families, the agency maintained that upholding the original results would have severely compromised public trust in the examination system. To streamline the process, the NTA confirmed that candidates will not need to re-register or pay additional fees, as all previous data and center preferences will be automatically applied to the new test date.

The decision to scrap the exam follows a formal investigation into widespread irregularities and allegations of a paper leak, which is now being spearheaded by India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). To date, seven individuals across several states have been arrested in connection with the scandal, with further suspects currently under scrutiny. Legal proceedings have been initiated under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Prevention of Corruption Act, and the Public Examinations Act, reflecting the government's commitment to addressing the criminal breach of trust and ensuring the sanctity of the medical entrance process.
